The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining has received a donation of more than 240,000 packets of organic, non-genetically modified organism (non-GMO) seeds from the American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ).

Valued at $120 million (approximately US$750,000), the donation comprises a variety of seeds, including tomatoes, sweet peppers, beans, carrots, onions, lettuce, herbs and ornamental flowers.

The donation represents a significant boost to the sector’s recovery efforts following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa.
