A partnership between renowned Japanese sound system Mighty Crown and the Jamaica 4-H Clubs is helping young farmers in St. Ann recover from the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa, through the donation of agricultural supplies.

Some 21 young farmers and 40 members of the Jamaica 4-H Clubs in the parish received farming supplies valued at $1 million during a handover ceremony, held at the Social Development Commission (SDC) Parish Office in Brown’s Town, on Thursday, May 14.

Jamaicans urged not to squat on bauxite lands

The Jamaica Bauxite Institute (JBI) is urging Jamaicans to refrain from squatting on bauxite lands.
These lands are utilised both before and after mining to support agricultural production, which requires careful infrastructure development planning across the five bauxite parishes.

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining, Hon. Floyd Green, on Thursday (May 21), launched the Caribbean Week of Agriculture (CWA) 2026, CARICOM’s flagship platform for the advancement of the region’s agricultural agenda.

This year, Jamaica will be hosting the event set for September 27 to October 2 at the Ocean Coral Springs Resort in Trelawny, under the theme: ‘The New FACE of Caribbean Food Systems’.
