The Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries has implemented a set of new initiative programmes in which it facilitates, links, and disseminates information amongst the various traders. Chief among these is the compilation of the most recent agriculture-related commodity prices on a weekly or monthly basis.
This new approach becomes necessary as markets become complex and the need for information to enhance trading become more critical. In a time of global recession it is imperative that we, as Jamaicans, see the need to improve food security so that we are able to feed our nation without compromising our foreign exchange.
