Start a Backyard Garden

Growing your own food is a wise choice at this time when world food costs are at a high. The Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries strongly advocates backyard gardening as a solution to reduce spending on basic food items, as well as improving your nutrient-intake.

Gardening Kits
Space is no longer a major issue in growing fruits, vegetables and herbs yourself. With assistance from the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA), householders can now grow almost any food type in containers.

Gardening kits consisting of seeds, soil nutrients, and basic crop care information are available at your nearest RADA Office. Assistance extends beyond the low-cost kits. RADA will give advice on the best crops to grow in your area, provide fruit trees, and will be monitoring the production process of gardeners over three months.

Gardening tips can also be obtained from our "Eat What You Grow" pages and RADA.
