| National Minerals Policy
The Industrial Minerals (i.e. the non–bauxite) sector saves Jamaica an average of US$55 million annually, however,
it continues to be underexploited based on the traditional emphasis placed on the bauxite industry.
Development of a National Minerals Policy
In order to establish a policy framework that will create an enabling environment for the promotion and development of the
minerals sector, the Ministry has formulated a National Minerals Policy in an effort to:
The draft Policy document, which has undergone consultations with key stakeholders,
is now ready for presentation to the Cabinet.
