Operational Plans 2009-2010
Mission: To provide an efficient and economical corporate wide Records Management Programme which is geared towards the overall maintenance, protection, retention and disposition of the Ministry’s records in accordance with Government Regulations, legal requirements, historical and reference needs: to ensure the development and dissemination of Agricultural information which is dynamic, current and relevant for research and general consultation in order to facilitate the achievement of Government goals and policies and fulfilment of the Access to Information Act.

To ensure the developments in agriculture are supported by an adequate supply of Human and Organizational Resources. Relevant policies, systems and procedures are implemented and maintained in a manner that will enhance efficiency and effectiveness |
Establish the Ministry’s Electronic Records Management Programme in keeping with International Standards |
Complete Records Management Policy and Standards in keeping with ISO15489
Update Classification Scheme.

Ensure the Ministry and its agencies compliance with the Access to Information Act.

Put in place a communication system to keep employees as well as other clients abreast of all developments relevant to Access to Information and have access to all pertinent documents.

Sensitization and collaboration with the Access to Information Unit to hold workshops/seminars. .
Continued production of brochures and newsletters.
Contact with agencies to give advice as to the administration of the Access to Information Act. |

Participation in exhibitions, Agricultural shows and youth fora. |
Mount exhibitions, participate in Agricultural shows and network activities through Jamaica Agricultural Documentation and Information Network (JADIN) Do sensitization programmes in collaboration with RADA’s Youth in Agriculture activities and Jamaica 4H clubs to promote careers in Agriculture. |
One Exhibition and display mounted throughout the Ministry each quarter.
